The various methods of pruning trees
The main reasons we get asked as to why we prune trees is simply for proper aesthetics, safety reasons and health. However there are a few different methods we use for tree pruning.
Crown Thinning: This involves pruning away branches that cross against other branches or run against them. We also keep the lateral branches on your tree as commonly spaced out as possible.
Crown Raising: Sometimes, the lower branches of a tree will grow or hang toward the ground and get in the way of pedestrian traffic. With this particular method, we provide clearance for people walking underneath the tree.
Crown Reduction: This is a last resort form of pruning and only done when very necessary. We trim lateral branches that are one-third the diameter of the stem which has to be removed.
In each of these cases though, we are extremely careful and selective with the branches that we do prune. Everything we do is to improve the health or shape of the tree for the long-term, not to harm it.
