Power Outages Caused by Tree Limbs
Planting smaller trees in the future underneath power-lines can be a great idea in comparison to the addition of larger trees. There are thousands of outages each year that are often the effect of rubbing tree limbs. This only gets fixed when the utility company provides pruning services or a local company is hired to trim away those branches interfering with electrical lines. It’s a very dangerous job.
Interfering tree limbs also create financial losses for the energy company, a depletion in resources and health risks for those walking or living nearby. Not all trees are great candidates due to the width of their max growth canopy or height, but there are plenty species that would make a perfect fit and provide a far less risky endeavor than what currently exists. Pruning requirements are very high when dealing with larger trees planted near power-lines.
