Sidewalk Tree Planting
Urban planners know that the best trees which should be situated along sidewalks are smaller species because their roots will not grow to large lengths.
We have encountered many issues in the past where larger, more mature tree species have grown and so have their roots. Once this happens, the roots will eventually raise the sidewalk and (or) pavement causing a disruption in foot traffic.
When planting these smaller species tree along sidewalks, we like to use root barriers as to further ensure that there are no future issues with roots raising cement. Specially designed sidewalk sub-bases can also help prevent root intrusion problems.
