Feed Your Trees In the Fall to Prevent Starvation In the Spring
Unfortunately for trees, they are often the most neglected objects in your landscape. Many people think of trees in a forest and think to themselves, “There’s no need to take care of them, i’ll let mother nature do all the work.” Although there’s some truth to this and trees are resilient to damage, they still need to be cared for.
A tree’s root system is usually the most neglected part of the entire tree. Simply watering or fertilizing the wrong way will not do much because your turf around the tree will absorb the nutrients way before the roots ever get a chance to. Without a tree’s root system, there is no way for a tree to survive. If it’s roots are unable to get proper access to nutrients, eventually it will whither up and die.
It’s important that fertilizer and water be used consistently and properly during the spring so that the tree may thrive throughout the summer months. It’s during the summer when the possibility of drought occurs. If this is done in advance, your tree will not go through extreme stress due to the weather.
